In a 2020 Behavioral Health Survey from McKinsey, results show that Black and Latino patients have negative perceptions about the healthcare industry. Some of these perceptions stem from negative personal experience, high costs, and difficulty with access, as well as beliefs that minority groups receive lower quality treatment than their white counterparts. To address these negative perceptions, HR Dive sees an opportunity for employers to examine cost and access disparities, as well as take steps to provide objective outcome data that counters ongoing perceptions in Black and Latino communities.
