An in depth study of 109 New York State acute care facilities has confirmed, in greater detail, the equivocal findings by a number of other research projects: that the quality of care, patient safety, and overall experience provided by a healthcare facility is directly related to its financial performance. Through multiple measures of financial performance and hospital quality, researchers found strong associations between consistent financial stability (and profitability) and patient outcomes, public opinion, safety standards, and numerous other measures of the healthcare facility’s success.
