A 2018 report that reviewed 210 hospitals found a failure to report approximately $4.4 million in warranty credits that should have been sent to Medicare. In examining 296 surgeries to replace problematic medical devices for Medicare beneficiaries, none of them were properly billed. While this report is several years old, it highlights the essential need for systems and policies related to billing, tracking, and credits of all kinds.
