The past several years have presented numerous challenges across the supply chains of numerous industries. These challenges, however, also present valuable lessons for future supply chain management that reduce overall operating expenses and build resiliency. A recent article from Inc. outlines 3 key ways that supply chain managers can reduce costs: front-loading the “kitting and assembly” stage to have ready-made packages for order fulfillment, adding barcodes to boxes for more agile inventory management, and prepackaging complimentary items and creating bundles to reduce “picking and packing” time. All of these strategies reduce labor, increase efficiency, and add up to large savings in total operating costs.
