While healthcare HR departments face numerous challenges every day, looking to the future has facilities of all kinds worried about one massive problem: the shortage of a qualified workforce. The number of healthcare jobs continues to increase, as the overall demand for care, but many of the specialized roles are becoming increasingly difficult to fill. The number of individuals graduating from nursing programs falls consistently below projected demand, and some 90% of hospital executives believe that their facilities will face staffing shortages that negatively affect the quality of care they can provide.
There are some proposed solutions in sight, many of which revolve around more competitive compensation and rethinking corporate culture in ways that appeal to younger generations.
