After years of planning and preparation, BMI Healthcare — a UK private healthcare organization — recently announced that it is now using Oracle’s PeopleSoft platform as a financial and patient administration solution at all of its 69 hospitals. According to an article from Computing, implementation across the network took a team of thirty people eighteen months to achieve. Talks about using the platform began several years ago. The organization, which serves 276,000 patients a year, reported that PeopleSoft — used by many hospital organizations in the United States as well — was selected for a number of reasons, including its ability to integrate with the Choose and Book system that is used for booking appointments for individuals using the public National Health Services as well as those utilizing private services. Choose and Book is currently used to process 40,000 patient referrals a day, the article stated. BMI’s implementation came with classroom training for about 6,000 users. According to the article, a top priority during the deployment of the platform was maintaining data confidentiality, particularly as new users learned the system. A spokesman for BMI Healthcare stated that PeopleSoft offers the company a combination of strong vendor support, functionality, and flexibility. If your organization is using PeopleSoft and needs some help with operational pain points and functional production support, Belmero can help. Our clients typically receive a 25 percent reduction in support costs, as well as reductions in associated costs and risks and an increase in productivity.
